When the prevailing guitar jingle of ‘Mr. Jones’ cascaded over radio within the early 90s, it was a certain signal that the Counting Crows have been a musical pressure to be reckoned with. Their debut album, August and The whole lot After, burst on the seams with each dominant pop harmonies and wealthy, hearty ballads, all thanks to guide singer Adam Duritz. The lone guitar work of ‘Mr. Jones’ coupled with the candy, in-front pull of Duritz’s voice kicked off the album in full pressure.
