The music for the historical fiction-romance streaming series “Bridgerton,” based on Julia Quinn’s novels, includes an orchestral and classical score composed and produced by Kris Bowers, as well as orchestral covers of contemporary popular songs performed by Vitamin String Quartet,
Duomo, and Bowers himself. The soundtrack and covers were released alongside the series’ premiere, with the first season’s album distributed by Lakeshore Records and the second season’s by Capitol Records. The music has received critical acclaim.
Set during the Regency era in England, “Bridgerton” follows the eight close-knit siblings of the influential Bridgerton family as they navigate society and seek love.
The first season, based on Julia Quinn’s novel “The Duke and I,” focuses on the eldest daughter, Daphne Bridgerton, and her romance with the dashing Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset.
Premiering on December 25, 2020, on Netflix, the series was created by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland.
“Bridgerton” quickly became a cultural phenomenon, known for its lavish production, diverse cast, and modern take on period drama.
