Madonna

Madonna’s groundbreaking fifth studio album, Erotica, celebrates its 30th anniversary on October 20, 2022. Originally released in 1992, the album topped charts worldwide and has sold over six million copies.

To mark the anniversary, a limited edition 12” vinyl picture disc featuring the album’s title track is finally being released after a three-decade delay.

Initially scheduled for release in fall 1992, the picture disc features a colorized version of the infamous “toe sucking” photo from Madonna’s *Sex* book, which was released the same week as the Erotica album.

However, the disc was abruptly canceled just before release due to concerns that the image was too explicit for in-store display. Most copies were destroyed, with only a few making their way into the public’s hands, adding to the disc’s mystique.

Now, after 30 years, the Erotica picture disc is available for pre-order and will be released on October 21st.

The album’s first single, Erotica, peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent 18 weeks on the chart, earning gold certification from the RIAA.

The single was also a major global hit, topping the European Hot 100 Singles chart, reaching #3 in the U.K., and landing in the Top Five in Australia and New Zealand.
