Idlewild South (1970) incorporates two of the band’s best-known songs, “Midnight Rider” (later coated by Joe Cocker, Bob Seger, Waylon Jennings, and Willie Nelson, amongst others) and “In Reminiscence of Elizabeth Reed”, which might develop into one of many band’s well-known live performance numbers. A retrospective five-star evaluate by Bruce Eder on Al/Music deemed it as “the very best studio album within the group’s historical past, electrical blues with an acoustic texture, virtuoso lead, slide, and organ taking part in, and a killer number of songs.”
