The soulful Louisiana-born tenor saxophonist, Don Wilkerson, made his Blue Be aware debut in 1962 with Preach Brother! – probably the most exuberant but under-recognized soul jazz classics of the Blue Be aware catalog. The album featured the Ray Charles alum with Grant Inexperienced (guitar), Sonny Clark (piano), Butch Warren (bass), and Billy Higgins (drums). Blue Be aware Basic Vinyl Collection is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Grey from the unique grasp tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimum.
