Although not a soundtrack album by any stretch, SONIC HIGHWAYS shares it is title with the Grohl-directed eight-episode HBO sequence described by Grohl as a love letter to the historical past of American music. For the album and sequence, the Foo Fighters wrote and recorded one tune in every of those eight cities, delving into the native musical currents.
