Jamaican-born trumpeter Dizzy Reece was a fixture of the London jazz scene before moving to New York City in 1959 where he recorded his excellent album Star Bright, a hidden gem in the Blue Note catalog, featuring a first-rate hard bop quintet with Hank Mobley (tenor saxophone), Wynton Kelly (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Art Taylor (drums). Blue Note Classic Vinyl Series is all-analog, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original master tapes, and pressed on 180-gram vinyl at Optimal.
