Lately heralded by weak lead single, ‘Physique Higher’, Maisie’s second studio album, ‘The Good Witch’, is the official follow-up to her No. 2 BRIT Breakthrough licensed debut, ‘You Signed Up For This’, and in some ways the older, wiser and scorned counterpart. Written in actual time throughout her whirlwind 2022 touring schedule, ‘The Good Witch’ served as a time capsule for Maisie, enabling her to chronicle a time frame during which she was looking for steadiness between profession highs and private lows. The place ‘You Signed Up For This’ was an observational, coming-of-age report, ‘The Good Witch’ finds Maisie at her most introspective and self-reflective, drawing inspiration from the works of Joan Didion, J. M. Barrie, Greek mythology and Western films; the report explores the complexities of romantic breakups, the preciousness of friendship and true worth of self-worth. Exhibiting a newfound confidence, sharper storytelling and higher creative ambition, Maisie created ‘The Good Witch’ throughout London, Suffolk, Stockholm, Bergen and LA, alongside Oscar Görres (Taylor Swift, Troye Sivan), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Jessie Ware), Matias Tellez (lady in pink), Brad Ellis (Jorja Smith, Little Combine), Joe Rubel (Ed Sheeran, Tom Grennan) and Elvira Anderfjärd (Tove Lo, Katy Perry).
