“The Last Will and Testament” is something of a concept album.
Itโs a restless musical journey that reflects my own complex relationship with music as a listener,” explains band leader Mikael ร kerfeldt.
“I find myself picking up some influences while discarding others. I simultaneously worship and despise music, which creates this ambivalence that drives me down my own creative path. Suddenly, I have a collection of songs.
Hopefully, theyโre good enough to impress the band, satisfy the industry, and resonate with you. I love this recordโI have to admit it. Maybe Iโm even proud of it?
There are some familiar elements since much of our music comes from the same source, so itโs no surprise if it sounds like โus.โ Iโm a bit amazed at what we accomplished with โThe Last Will and Testament.โ It feels surreal.
Thereโs a sense of coherence and songwriting skill, I think, but who am I to judge? I tend to prefer the โstrangeโ over the โobvious,โ even if that puts me in the minority.
So, fair warningโdonโt expect an immediate connection, but if you do โget itโ right away, thatโs great too.”
